Exploring the Local Area
This afternoon after school we went for a drive around the local area and to Fredrikstad. We stopped and looked at all these different rock paintings. It was really interesting.
Then we went to Gamlebyen. It is an old fortress town in Fredrikstad. We walked around the edge of the town. There were all these cannons. We fed the birds in the moat and came across some swans. It was a nice afternoon.

ANZAC Biscuits
Today I made Anzac biscuits, or attempted to anyway. They didn't turn out right, but I think they taste ok. I have now found out that Norway uses different measuring systems which was annoying. I was also reminded that Norway doesn't have golden syrup. And there was something wrong with the bicarb soda, it didn't do what it was meant to, but overall I think they turned out fine....? Hopefully the people at Rotary tonight like them.

Movies
I had a great night out with friends tonight. We went to the movies and saw Warm Bodies. It was a bit gross and scary in parts, but quite funny. Its been great to be doing stuff with friends this weekend:)

Trip In The Forest
This morning we got up at 3:30 and went into the forest. We had headlights and made our way through. We saw the sun come up and listened to different birds. We took sandwiches, cocoa and chocolate in. It was god, but pretty cold.
Sleepover!
Yesterday afternoon I went to a friend from schools house. Another friend came too. We watched a few movies and stayed up until 3 in the morning. We slept in their summer house. She has the awesomest dog!
This morning we slept late then had breakfast. I made them try vegemite. It was so funny watching them try it. They thought it was disgusting! They made the funniest faces! Then we put our swimmers on under our clothes and rode bikes to the beach. On the way we went past one small beach which had the cutest little marina. It was really nice.
We went swimming at the beach, We ran into the water a fair way dived under and ran back out. It was sooooooo cold! It was really refreshing though. The water temperature was around 6 degrees. When we got out of the water the air temperature seemed warm.
Then we rode back home. The rest of the afternoon we just had popcorn and watched another movie. I had a great time:)

1/4 gone
My exchange is already a quarter gone! Wow, I cannot believe it! Everyone says about how quickly exchange years go, but you don't realise exactly how quick until you're on it. Time is flying! 3 months in Norge <3

Denmark!
This weekend I went to Denmark. We left at 5:30 on Friday morning to Gothenburg in Sweden. From there we caught a massive boat across to Fredrikshavn in Denmark. From there we drove to Aalborg. It was nice trip.
That afternoon we just had a late lunch. The adults all went out so I spent the rest of the afternoon exploring Aalborg. It is such a nice town. It has some really old buildings. That night we went out to dinner at a steakhouse. The building was from 1585!
Saturday morning we went and watched Minas (host sister) team play handball and they won. After that we had time to kill so we went to a shopping centre and had lunch. That afternoon I hung out will Allee (on exchange in Denmark from 9650 in Australia). It was so awesome to see her! We just wandered around Aalborg and did some shopping. That night we went to dinner with the whole handball team. it was a great night.
Sunday morning we watched the semis for the handball competition. Unfortunately the team lost. Everyone was wearing Rade scarves or jumpers and they were singing and waving flag and bells. It was great atmosphere.
Then we headed back to Norway. I have now discovered that Denmark should be called flatland! It was so flat! It was great weekend!:)

Shopping With My Friends
So today during our long break 4 of us caught a bus and went shopping. We went to a 'thrift' shop. They have a lot of clothes that aren't great, but if you look you can find some great stuff. They actually had some really nice clothes. I bought 2 shirts and they were really cheap! Bargain!:)
We were waiting at the bus stop for the bus, but it never came! We ended up walking back to school. It was a pretty good way to spend our break:)
Now I need to pack for Denmark tomorrow!

Day with my 2nd host family
Yesterday I spent the day with my second host family and some of their family. We went to this place near Fredrikstad. It was like a picnic park (kind of thing) near the water. It was a really nice place.
We had a fire and a nice lunch. A few of us kids went down over all these rocks near the water and went fishing for a while. It was really cold because of the wind blowing off the water. Then we played soccer. It was really muddy and slippery and I ended up with mud all the up the side of my jeans (most of us ended up with mud somewhere). It was fun though.
It was a pretty good day.

Paskeferie
This week has been Easter Break. It has mainly involved exploring the local forests and area. Two days we went to a place near the water at Moss. One of the times we went we cooked sausages over the fire.
On Easter Saturday we went outside to find our eggs. It was a bit weird to be be having Easter eggs on Saturday rather than Sunday. Also they don't have hot cross buns! Then we drove to a forest and walked up to the top of a hill. We cooked sausages over a fire and walked up a tower. When we were there we saw this bird which is very rare to see.
On the Sunday it was Martines (host sister) birthday so all the family came for dinner. We had an egg hunt then too, but these were egg shells with number and letters written on them. Once we found all the eggs we had to unscramble the letters and then we got chocolate.
Back to 6:30 wakeups tomorrow
